After the first round of games 2 players in each group are out ahead on 2/2 wins.
They are Mark Layton with a very good 9-7 over the much fancied Gary Parsons joining him at the top in group A is Mick Turner who beat Mark Neylon 9-7 in a close fought game.
In group B it's the usual suspect Jimmy Carney who leads the way with 2 very easy wins 9-0 and 9-1 against Lauckland Boyce in second at the moment is brother in law to be Mark Stirling who has started very well himself beating Joe Flaherty and Paul Holland some interesting fixtures to come in june should sort out the main contenders from the also rans!!

£30 entry per player + £5 per match total £65 2 Groups of 8 players drawn at random no handicaps!! Round robin so 7 matches per player 2 games per month!! Top 2 players form each group thru to semi's to play off for £500 pot with the winner winning in the region between £180-£200. 3rd placed player recieving generous place money of £90 bottom 5 players from each group play off for a small pot of £70!!!
As this will be run only over 4 months the money ain't huge but worth winning!!!

Essex 'B' team player Arnie Hoffman has been keeping a secret from his team mates.
In his spare time he has also been doing some amatuer modelling which he hopes could lead to a full time contract.

A well deserved victory was enhanced with the semi final 4-3 win against former winner Jimmy Carney.
Kieran beat another Essex county player in Mark Layton 4-3 in a hard fought final again the competition finished around 8pm and was well supported the plate winner was Sean Hayden with Tony Arnold Snr walking away with the break and dish money thanks to all that turned up and to those that didn't well it's your loss.

The E B P F are delighted to announce the dates for the 2009/2010 National Blackball Tour.
The tour is open to all players who are eligable to play in one of the following catagories- Youths Juniors U21's Ladies Mens Seniors(over 40's) All current England International players will be required to attend at least 3 events as any points attained will be used for assessing International status.
The events will be seperated into 4 catagories and played over two days as follows- Youths-Juniors-U21's- Which will be played on Saturdays with a start time of 10am Ladies- which will be played on Saturdays with a start time of 2pm Mens- Which will be played on Sundays with a start time of 10am Seniors- which will be played on Sundays with a start time of 2pm
The events will be played to the following frames- Youths-juniors-U21's- will be played to the best of 11's Ladies- will be played to the best of 11's Mens- will be played to the best of 13's Seniors will be played to the best of 13's
The cost per event is as follows- Youths=£10 Juniors=£15 U21's=£20 Ladies=£20 Mens=£25 Seniors=£25 All monies will be payed out in the prize fund.
The dates for these events are as follows- 28/29 March 2009 @ Barking Pool Club 30/31 May 2009 25/26 July 2009 19/20 September 2009 21/22 November 2009 23/24 January 2010 @ Barking Pool Club (Grand Final*) The four events with no venue attatched will be played at venues in Basingstoke and Derby.
All events will be ranked with a points system and any player finishing in the top 8 of their catagory will have a bye through the first round of the next event. *Grand Final will be played with enhanced frames and double prize money.
The events will have a collar-trousers-shoes dress code.
Accomodation lists will be available with the entry forms and info packs which will be available within the next week.

The 'A' team pictured finally delivered a victory for the first time this season by recording a stunning scoreline of 22-5 and all but booked there place in selsey for the county finals.
With no fewer than five players winning all three of their games it was a stroll for the elite of essex.

Well after 8 succesive wins the wheels came off somewhat for the 'B' team with the very strong East London team winning 15-12.
